


OBJECTIVES
a) To use ICT to promote increase accessibility to Tertiary Education. b) To provide opportunity for Young Gambians, Nigerians by extension Young c) African to gain necessary life survival entrepreneurial skills which is the focus of EUG. d) To use technology to cause a drastic reduction in the costs involved in the long run in the management of Tertiary education. e) To use the online digital virtual campus to produce and build a corps of computer literate Graduates. f) To reduce the pressure on the parents who sponsor their wards for foreign degrees.
3) STRATEGY OF THE PROGRAM.
A) Build the Digital Infrastructure to drive the process. The virtual campus to mount all the degree programmes. B) Virtual classrooms shall be established whereby students enrolled for Degree programmes shall be enabled to receive lectures real time as it is being delivered by the appointed Course Lecturers. C) The Virtual Campus shall become a Digitalized Graduate Training Centre accessible to all enrolled students from all parts of The Gambia, Nigeria and indeed all over Africa with The Gambia as the Hub for good reasons.
4) PROMOTERS OF ENTREPRENEUERS UNIVERSITY THE GAMBIA
The Entrepreneurs Group (TEG) are the Promoters of the University. The Promoters are high net worth distinguished personalities with great accomplishments in Public, Private and Academic endeavours. TEG Members shall bring their experiences into the implementation of this University project and indeed the innovative virtual campus project that shall change the mode of tertiary education in the Gambia, Nigeria by the power of technology cover the whole of Africa without language barrier.
5) JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT
Information and Computer Technology (ICT) has proven to be a veritable means to many ends in life endeavours. Most operations in today’s life transactions involve the computer to efficiently and transparently drive the process. The Information and Computer technology can only be as efficient only to the extent to which the human factor programmed it. Hence, it is important for graduates to be trained in a virtual campus environment because of the advantages of the elements of social facilitation it offers readily for globalization and marketability of the graduates in the international labour market. Hence, every opportunity to promote the interest of the Trainee graduates in information and computer technology shall be explored. The training of graduates in a purpose fit-for-purpose virtual campus provides this opportunity. In the context of our socio-economic condition where mass unemployment is prevalent, and numerous educated people are jobless, it is imperative for job seekers to enhance their employability rating. One of the means of achieving high employability rating is the quality of training and certification. Consequently therefore, professionals should seek to obtain entrepreneurial training in their chosen life endeavours at the highest level using the most recent mode which is the virtual university campus.
TEG Members expect a tremendous impact of the University project on the tertiary educational system and the society at large. It will surely provide a dynamic force to change the traditional approach of Graduate training to a more sophisticated technology driven process which is also cost saving in the context of the students and Parents including Government, Sponsoring Institutions and or Organizations. The technology driven virtual campus shall make the training of graduates dynamic and practice oriented.
6) CLOSING
The Entrepreneurs University is a Game Changer for fostering innovation, job creation opportunities, driver of an economy which prepare students to think creatively, develop business acumen and turn ideas into viable ventures which are acquired through practical learning that emphasise entrepreneurship. The benefits of the University to The Gambia productive population particularly the over 60% Youth population cannot be over emphasised. The positive social impact in the inculcation of entrepreneurial orientation in the Graduates with high potentials for job and wealth creation automatically changes the narrative from job seeking whereby reducing unemployment rate in the Gambia and by extension Nigeria and other Africa Countries. By the instrumentality of this University TEG is poised to contribute to the growth of tertiary education in the Gambia particularly and Africa at large.
